*+- Space Expedition: Classic Adventure is an utterly entertaining, unique and atmospheric game. It’s one of those games where you travel back and forth, gathering new items that allow you to reexplore previously visited areas. And that is probably the worst game description I’ll ever pen in my life. It’s not dissimilar to Metroid. But to call it a Metroid clone would be grossly unfair. It’s a dark, surprising, and even disturbing adventure, a puzzle platformer with tons of areas to explore.

B*Bert rebooted offers both the classic game itself and Q*bert: Rebooted. Both are similar, you jump on blocks and they change colour. Change the colour of all the blocks and the level’s complete. Simple, pure, retro goodness. Through in a few enemies and you’ve got all the complexity you need. Sadly, the classic version here isn’t quite as good as the original (but really, the original of anything is always the best, right?). Still, the gameplay is excellent and it definitely will put a smile on the face of nostalgic old gamers like me.

In The Samaritan Paradox you play protagonist Ord Saloman, a Ph.D student who is living in Sweden and has a healthy a petite for literature and cryptography. The game starts with Ord solving a simple little puzzle in a book the author of which (Jonatan Bergwall) has killed himself. This introduction serves to get you accustomed to the gameplay, which is fairly traditional point and click style. Then Ord comes across the daughter of Bergwall, Sara, who assigns him a mission: discover a book Bergwall wrote in secrecy.

Metroid is a classic and highly popular series of Nintendo games in which you play as Samus Aran as she journey’s through space. Machinarium very quickly became one of the most popular point and click games of the past decade when it was released in 2009. It uses the old point and click style of gameplay that was highly popular back in the 90s. This creates a familiar feeling for older gamers, but Machinaruim also create a fresh experience by including more modern aspects of video game design.
Limbo is an artistic 2D sidescrolling puzzle platform game that uses an integrated physics engine to allow for realistic movement of objects and of the player character. To call NaissanceE a platfomer is to do a disservice to the developer. NaissanceE is a platformer with a difference—several difference, actually. It starts with the artistic design. Dark rooms of twisted geometry create an abstract architectural world, the likes of which we’ve never seen before. It’s like taking a trip to the Fundació Joan Miró museum in Barcelona—inspiring, mind-bending stuff.

OMG-Zombies takes place on one single screen which is mostly black and white. Despite the fact that you’re playing a soldier it’s your puzzle skills that will be tested, rather than your shooting skills. Shoot a zombie and it’ll blow up, and if a znother zombie is nearby it will wipe it out too, causing a chain reaction of exploding zombies. Awesome. Clearly, that’s very very awesome.
