iPad Game Review: Fetch: A Stunning Feast For The Imagination

Fetch is one of those rare games that can be immediately played and enjoyed by anyone. It’s simple, graphically gorgeous and original enough to grab your attention and inspire your imagination as soon as you start playing.

Fetch tells a charming and uplifting tale of a boy who only wants to save his dog from a totalitarian state that hates puppies.   Your mutt was stolen by a sentient fire hydrant who has taken your dog from a loving home to a world full of crocodiles, robots and a ton of switches. To save him, you’ll need to journey through the subterranean world, solving puzzles and tackling enemies.

Playing the game is as easy as tapping the screen.  You can tap to look around and tap on objects to make the boy walk over to them for a closer look. You’ll also fight aliens, feed snakes and perform other tasks in the games numerous arcade-style mini-games which must be completed to progress on your journey.

As well as tapping the screen you’ll slide your finger to twist valves and drag switches into place.All of the controls are familiar—you’ll get to grips with the game almost immediately.

If Fetch is a little too easy, it makes up for it by being absolutely adorable. The game’s world is believable and you will find yourself hooked in the story. The graphics are an absolute treat for the eyes. Very few iPad games look as good as Fetch. The atmosphere and characters create a sense of magic that wouldn’t look out of sorts in a Disney movie.

Fetch is for those gamers who want a simple but utterly compelling title. In many ways, its simplicity is key to the whole thing. the magic of Fetch is about taking a journey through a magical and captivating world. It doesn’t tie itself down with complex gameplay, it makes everything easy so you can sit back and enjoy the spectacle of the game.

Fetch is a game that will adored by millions, and with good reason. There’s a purity of spirit to Fetch that lifts it to the highest realm of entertainment, the realm of the best animated movies, the realm where you completely lose yourself in a beautiful work of the imagination, where you drift off into a fantasy realm, where your imagination is stirred and your heart lifted.
