Games Like Blade And Soul That You Need To Play Right Now

Here’s the deal. I love Blade and Soul. A lot. Korean RPG are flipping awesome and Blade And Soul is the best.

The characters, the culture, the story… and yeah, the gameplay, I just love it all. Half the time I totally forget reality and get a little too involved with Blade And Soul.

Blade And Soul is f**king awesome. Hiroshi Takeuchi and NCSoft have created an amazing game. So I figured I would do an interview with Takeuchi to see what he’s up to.

I’ll be interviewing NCSoft and Hiroshi Takeuchi soon. If you want to be notified when I publish that interview, just follow GamePlayersReview on twitter or Facebook…
Anyway, to prepare for the interview I’ve been playing through a ton of games like Blade And Soul. So I threw together this list of the best of them.

Games Like Blade and Soul by Genres / Themes

MMORPG: Blade and Soul is all about creating a traditional MMORPG but based around the theme of martial arts. As such there is a lot of fighting and combat that takes place in the game, including some awesome QingGong action. The game takes place in an open world environment in which you must explore the world, completing various missions assigned to you by NPCs. In many ways, it’s a fairly standard MMORPG. PVP and PVE Combat: The combat system in Blade and Soul is real time and uses a third person perspective. You’ll be performing all sorts of combos, almost like a traditional fighting game. One of the gameplay mechanics that separate Blade and Soul from similar games is its “Downed” mechanic, which allows you to come back from near death. The game also utilises PvPvE action (player versus player versus environment). For similar games, see our choices for games with PVE and PVP.

Korean: Blade and Soul is a Korean MMORPG and shows a lot of Korean influences. If you love the Korean style of game then we recommend checking out our choices of the best Korean Games.

One of the reasons for Elsword’s surge in popularity is thanks to its unique game design. Released in 2007 and featuring excellent MMO gameplay with a focus on skills and combat, Elsword is a side scrolling game that combines both 3D and 2D to create one of the most impressive 2.5 D games that we’ve played.

The gameplay mechanics in Elsword will be familiar to MMORPG fans. They have a large emphasis on skill and when in combat you must rely on precise timing to deliver combos of hits. This creates a skills based gameplay which is far more engaging and enjoyable than the combat seen in most MMORPGs. It allows you to build your skills and to rely on your gameplay precision rather than being at the mercy of stats and figures.
