Call of Duty Players Are Angry And Frustrated Claims New Study

Love games like Call of Duty Black Ops 2, God of War Ascension and Gears of War Judgment? Then you’re an angry individual who needs to vent your frustration with life. . . at least, that’s what a new study shows.

It’s long been debated whether playing violent video games makes you more violent in real life, and whether people who play violent video games do so to blow off steam.

Though the “games cause violence” debate is long and, ultimately, completely stupid, the debate about whether we play violent games to vent frustration and anger is actually pretty interesting.

A recent study took three groups and made them sit mock exams. In the exams, one group were given the opportunity to cheat but were intentionally caught doing so. The second groups took the test normally, and the third group cheated but got away with it.

After the exam, the groups were asked if they would like to play some video games. The group who had been caught cheating were found to be more likely to want to play violent video games like Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and God of War.

. .. you may have noticed how completely arbitrary this test seems. It’s kinda bizarre, really. Surely a better way to perform this test would be to just test people stress levels then ask them what game they want to play. . . aye. .. scientists, so clever, yet so stupid. . .

Anyway, according to Brad Bushman at Ohio State University, the test results show that gamers play violent games in order to let off steam.

So, the next time you’re playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Gears of War, God of War etc., there’s a good chance you might be self medicating your emotions through gaming. . .  and really, if you are, good for you. It’s a lot better to play a game than to take psychotropical medication now, isn’t it?
